Legacy Past Members
Rommel Sudan:
Tenure: 2023 – 2025
Rommel was a passionate performer whose creativity and dedication added energy and movement to the Vocal Groove Collective stage. His enthusiasm for performing and his genuine love for the stage helped inspire those around him to give their best in every show. We thank Rommel for sharing his time, talent, and commitment during his years with the Collective. His presence will always be part of the group’s history, and we wish him continued success in all of his musical and creative pursuits ahead.
Jhoana Valdez:
Tenure: 2023 – 2025
Jhoana was part of The Vocal Groove Collective in its early beginnings and contributed her voice and presence during our first seasons. She was a caring member whose kindness and support were felt both on and off the stage — even stepping in to help a fellow member during a time of injury, an act that will never be forgotten. One lasting gift she brought to VGC was introducing fellow member Coleen Oabel, who continues to be part of our VGC family even after moving to California. VGC holds sincere gratitude for Jhoana’s contributions as part of our history. Though her journey has taken a different direction, we recognize her role with appreciation and wish her well in her future endeavors.
Pam Gamboa Gan (1974-2025): Pam Gamboa Gan brought heartfelt passion and radiant energy to The Vocal Groove Collective. A natural performer with a deep love for both singing and dancing, she brought warmth, soul, and joy to every stage she stepped on. While not part of the group’s official formation, Pam played a meaningful role in its early beginnings. During the Salu-Salo event at Earl Bales Park, she joined three other dancers alongside Kuya Pabs and Rodney on stage to perform Footloose. That moment helped spark the inspiration for what would eventually grow into The Vocal Groove Collective. Pam passed away on May 26th, 2025, due to health complications. She was loved by the Toronto Filipino Community and abroad. She will always be remembered, not only for the joy she brought on stage, but for the heart and kindness she gave so freely off of it. Her legacy will live on in every note we sing and every crowd we move. Visit her obituary here.
Edmund Arevalo: A founding (and former) member of the Vocal Groove Collective, Edmund was part of our inaugural performance at the 2023 Mabuhay Festival. After this milestone, he retired from public performances. As one of the original inspirations and respected veterans of the Toronto Filipino music community, Edmund embodied the spirit and high-energy of a true Vocal Groover, excelling in both singing and dancing. His contributions have left a lasting impact, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
