Who We Are
The Vocal Groove Collective (VGC) is a dynamic music and performance group based in Toronto, Canada, bringing together powerful vocalists, dancers, and creatives to deliver high-energy live entertainment experiences.
The Collective was founded by Rodney Ronquillo, the visionary behind the project, and Chyrell Ronquillo, who together set out to create a performance-driven music collective built around powerful vocals, choreography, and modern electronic dance music.
As the creative architect of the Collective, Rodney leads the musical direction and artistic vision behind VGC, shaping its evolution into a high-energy EDM performance group inspired by the scale and atmosphere of the world’s biggest dance music festivals.
Chyrell plays a vital role in helping bring that vision to life, contributing both as a performer and as a key force behind the coordination and organization that helps keep the Collective moving forward.
Inspired by the energy of global music festivals and contemporary pop performance groups, VGC creates shows designed to captivate audiences and ignite the atmosphere of the dance floor. From concert venues to festival stages, the Collective strives to deliver performances that feel immersive, cinematic, and unforgettable.
The Early Chapter
From the beginning, the Vocal Groove Collective was envisioned as a performance-driven singer–dancer group, inspired by acts such as S Club 7, the Backstreet Boys, and modern K-pop groups where strong vocals and choreographed movement come together on stage.
The name itself reflects this concept:
Vocal represents powerful singing and vocal performance.
Groove represents rhythm, movement, and dance.
Collective represents the gathering of talented performers into one creative group.
From its earliest concept, the vision for VGC was also inspired by the scale and energy of major electronic music festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and Electric Daisy Carnival, as well as the legendary global dance music culture of Ibiza.
The goal was to create performances that capture the same level of excitement, atmosphere, and stage energy that audiences experience at world-class dance events.
Early shows introduced the Collective to audiences through energetic live performances where singers and dancers shared the stage together, blending music, choreography, and stage energy into one unified performance experience.
These performances helped build chemistry between performers, develop the group’s stage identity, and grow a supportive community of audiences who connected with the spirit and excitement of the Collective.
The Evolution
From the very beginning, the long-term vision for the Vocal Groove Collective was to create original electronic dance music designed for powerful live performance.
However, like many new performance groups, the Collective began its journey by performing energetic dance and pop covers. This allowed the group to introduce itself to audiences, build stage chemistry among performers, and establish a growing fan base.
While these early performances helped launch the Collective, the deeper goal has always remained the same.
VGC is now evolving into what it was originally envisioned to become:
