St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Scarborough, Ontario, has a rich history of fostering a vibrant and inclusive community since its establishment in 1964. The parish is dedicated to spiritual growth, community engagement, and service, with various ministries and groups contributing to its dynamic environment.
Youth and Young Adult Ministries:
The church places a strong emphasis on nurturing the faith of its younger members. The Youth Group, led by Coordinator Mel Perpose, offers programs and activities designed to engage and inspire the parish’s youth. Additionally, the “Young Adults for Christ” group, coordinated by Annenshia Pathi Nathan, provides opportunities for young adults to deepen their faith and connect with peers.

Community Engagement:
The parish has a longstanding tradition of community involvement. Since its early years, organizations such as the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul have been active within the church, organizing events like rummage sales, bazaars, and Bundle Sunday collections to support those in need.

St. Thomas More Parish offers a variety of liturgical services and social events aimed at fostering fellowship among parishioners. Venue
By Decree of Erection the Parish of St. Thomas More, Scarborough, was established by the Archdiocese of Toronto on June 15, 1964 and divided from the parish of St. Rose of Lima. The Decree was signed by Coadjutor Archbishop of Toronto, Philip F. Pocock. The official Decree was sent to Reverend E. J. Platt, as the first pastor of Saint Thomas More Parish, on June 25, 1964. The solemn blessing of the Church of Saint Thomas More took place on Sunday, September 10, 1967 with his Grace The Most Rev. Philip F. Pocock officiating.
Over the next 50 years since the establishment of the Parish there were many highlights and memories that enrich the story of our parish and we share a few of these memories in the following pages. We trust that they will trigger many happy reminiscences for our parishioners.
